MISSOULA, Mont. -

Missoula County detectives are searching for two people who reportedly stole a deaf couple's service dog.

The couple said the theft occurred over labor day weekend at a camp ground in Lolo.

The dog, an 18-month-old husky/wolf mix responds to sign language, protects the deaf couple's child, and lets her owners know when someone is at the door.

"She's not just a dog, she's our service dog. She's a member of the family. They just ripped her away from us, and that's just really hard," said the mother.

Detectives say the suspects names are Sam and Kim Goodwin. Anyone with information is asked to call 531-1756.
