A Deer Lodge-area man has been arrested after arriving at the Powell County sheriff's office to report he had killed his wife.
Sheriff Scott F. Howard says the man fed horses and sheep Sunday morning before turning himself in at 8 a.m. The man told officers he killed his wife at their house near Racetrack late Saturday night.
Howard did not identify the couple or release any information about a motive, but said the man was a retired mechanic who owns the MRC Station in Deer Lodge. He was being held in the Powell County jail without bond until he can appear in court.
The woman's body was taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy. Howard said she was not shot.
