HELENA, Mont. -

Lewis and Clark County officials have signed a $1.6 million contract for design and construction of energy improvements to about 30 county-owned buildings.

The Independent Record reports that commissioners on Thursday signed the deal that will likely cut the county's annual $500,000 energy bill by about $77,000.
Officials say improvements will be made to drafty windows, bad door seals, inefficient heating systems and old lights.
Work on easy projects will start soon, but replacing heating systems won't begin until the weather warms.
