Climate change rallies held in Flathead
Protesters came together in Kalispell, Bigfork and Whitefish to support the national “Forward on Climate” march on Sunday. Their message to lawmakers was to act fast on climate change.
Some want the Montana legislature to pass a resolution to say the burning of fossil fuels is a main reason for climate change. Others called for lawmakers to prevent the proposed Keystone XL pipeline from being built.
NBC Montana stopped by the event in Kalispell on Sunday, and folks lined the highway with various signs addressing climate change.
“This is just an effort to just keep it in the public conversation,” said Flathead resident Gil Jordan.
Dr. Jerry Elwood, a former director of the Climate Change Research Division of the US Department of Energy, was a featured speaker at the event in Whitefish.
