The cause of death of hiker who went missing in Glacier National Park last July has been released. The Flathead County Sheriff's Office says a combination of hypothermia and drowning claimed the life of 19-year-old Jakson Kreiser.

Hikers found the remains of Kreiser in a small drainage as they were hiking southwest of Hidden Lake in September. The search area where Kreiser is believed to have traveled is very dangerous.

The Sheriff's Office hopes tragic incidents like these remind folks to use caution when heading out on any trail in Montana.

"I think the take home lesson is it's important to not hike alone," said Sheriff Chuck Curry. "And if you do hike alone, to make sure that you leave a hiking plan and make sure you tell someone where you're at, what you're route is going to be, and where you're going."
