It’s an inevitable part of the holiday these days: Black Friday kicks off not tomorrow anymore, but tonight at some retailers. It’s not just Americans lining up for the deals. NBC Montana spoke with staff at one hotel who say their hotel is booked mostly with Canadian visitors.
The Kalispell Grand Hotel has been in the Flathead more than 100 years. One front desk clerk tells NBC Montana that roughly 90 percent of their customers over the holiday are Canadian, and the rooms are nearly fully booked. As a comparison, last weekend the hotel was a little under half booked.
“We love our Canadians here, and not only just because they fill our hotel but because they just are really nice people and they’re very appreciative of us and they’re just really fun,” said Front Desk Clerk Tracy Smith.
Smith said the influx of visitors reminded her of the Summer tourism season.
