Folks braved single digit temperatures to help Bridger Bowl celebrate its 58th birthday and it couldn't have come at a better time.
After weeks without any new snow, the same winter storm that's pounded Bozeman and increased avalanche danger also brought nearly ten inches of fresh powder to Bridger Bowl in the past 24 hours.
"I was super excited because I knew it was going to be a powder day and it's pretty great," says Bozeman resident Eric Hamp.
Bridger Bowl visitor Randy Kippley agrees.
"Pretty awesome. We really picked a good time to go. We weren't really expecting this and we got some nice, fresh powder to shred on so, it was perfect," says Hamp.
Bridger Bowl begins its Alpine Community Race Series Saturday.
It's the first of three dual, giant slalom races for skiers of all ages.
Registration is between 8:30am and 10:30am at the Jim Bridger Lodge.
