Bozeman sends out pool survey
BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Check your mail- Bozeman sent a new survey to Gallatin County residents about what they want to see in a new aquatics and recreation center.

The survey is part of a larger study about the need for a new, bigger pool facility in Bozeman.

The study looks at possibilities like adding racquet courts, indoor and outdoor pools, lazy rivers and more.

The Gallatin Valley YMCA helped pay for the survey, and raised $7,500 in private donations.

Originally, the city planned to send the pool survey only to Bozeman residents, because under law the city tax money used for the survey had to go to residents within Bozeman's boundaries.

The YMCA stepped in with their contribution, so the city could expand the survey to the Gallatin Valley and other communities like Belgrade, Manhattan and Gallatin Gateway.

Andrea Stevenson, C.E.O. of the Gallatin Valley YMCA, said they'll use the results to draw up plans for a new YMCA.

They bought 23 acres near Regional Park for the new facility, but she said they need to figure out what amenities they to include before they move forward.

"It's absolutely critical that we hear from as many people as we can" she said. "So that we understand what our community is telling us, and that we can build our future appropriately."

The survey includes a prepaid stamped envelope for residents to send back.

Any residents who don't receive a survey can pick one up on Wednesday, July 25th at Beall Park or the YMCA.
