A 44-year-old Bozeman-area man is charged with stabbing his mother in the leg and side during a drunken argument over taking out the garbage.
Alexander Scott Sawicki appeared in Justice Court Wednesday on a charge of felony assault with a weapon. He remained jailed on $50,000 bond.
The stabbing was reported at 9 p.m. Tuesday at a house east of Bozeman several hours after deputies had separated the two during an argument.
The sheriff's report says Mona Beauchamp called 911 several times Tuesday to report she was arguing with her son about taking out the garbage. Officials say both sounded intoxicated. Sawicki said he would have to drive three miles to take the garbage to a drop-off spot and didn't want to drive while drunk.
Beauchamp was released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
