Bozeman city commissioners are being given $600 iPads to cut down on paper used to prepare review packets.
    
City Manager Chris Kukulski told the Bozeman Daily Chronicle (http://bit.ly/W7vjUE0) Tuesday the plan is to eliminate multi-inch paper packets for meetings and have the commissioners review the materials as electronic documents.
    
He says the iPads will replace the five commissioners' laptops, which cost $1,200 each.
    
Kukulski says the devices should make the commissioners more efficient and should not lead to distractions during meetings.
    
City policy prohibits commissioners from reading email, sending text messages or otherwise getting information that the public doesn't have while making decisions during the meeting.
