A 31-year-old Boise man is facing grand theft charges for allegedly stealing a customized tricycle that served as the only means of transportation for its owner who has special needs.
Boise Police announced Tuesday the arrest of Todd William Smisek. Long considered a suspect in the theft, authorities say Smisek was located thanks to an anonymous tip.
Owner Brian Gorman - who suffers from the effects of a brain injury - reported his recumbent tricycle missing in May, telling police it was taken from a tree where he typically locks it. Parts of the bike - worth an estimated $3,000 - were later found in two separate locations, but police helped make repairs before returning to Gorman.
Smisek is being held in the Ada County Jail pending arraignment.
