MISSOULA, Mont. -

The severed legs found in a bag in southwest Montana do not belong to a missing Missoula veteran, according to the Missoula County Sheriff’s Department.

NBC Montana told you how mountain bikers made the shocking discovery on the banks of a reservoir just outside Walkersville.

Officials sent the legs to the Montana State Crime lab for identification, and Missoula sheriff's deputies said they've ruled out the chance they belong to missing veteran Matthew Charlick, who disappeared in Missoula two weeks ago and hasn't been seen since.

Detective Jon Gunter said the shoe size on the severed legs don't match with Charlick’s.

The crime lab is still running tests to see if the legs match any other people missing in Montana.

Missoula deputies also continue their search for Charlick. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's department at 531-1756.
