A Billings man who shot and killed his former best friend outside a convenience store has been sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years.
The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/Wt9DD3) that 23-year-old Cleveland Boyer was sentenced Friday in Yellowstone County District Court.
Boyer in November was found guilty of deliberate homicide and felony tampering for the 2010 killing. Prosecutors say Boyer "executed" the unarmed 21-year-old Daniel Valenzuela to avenge an assault against Boyer's ex-girlfriend.
Boyer at the sentencing apologized for shooting Valenzuela nine times with a .22-calliber handgun.
In issuing the sentence, Judge Gregory Todd noted Boyer's many tattoos, including one on his neck that reads "Love to Hate."
