About 120 employees of the Billings Sweetheart Bakery have joined a national strike despite being warned the bakery could be shut down if they don't return to work.
The baker makes products such as WonderBread and Twinkies for Hostess Brand Inc.
The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/W5tdEO ) the employees joined the strike Saturday, saying they hope it will force Hostess to sell its assets so their jobs can be saved.
The national bakers strike started in Kansas on Friday. The unionized workers are protesting Hostess cutting wages and benefits by nearly a third.
Last year, the Texas company again filed its second bankruptcy in eight years.
Hostess CEO Gregory Rayburn on Monday announced he will permanently close three bakeries in Seattle, St. Louis and Cincinnati, Ohio, because of the strike.
