A proposal to let bow hunters use lighted arrows is being shot down at its final stop in the Senate.
    
The chamber rejected the plan in a 26-24 vote on Wednesday, a day after endorsing it. House Bill 26 had already cleared the House.
    
Supporters argued the lighted "nocks" - the notch at the rear of the arrow - make it easier to track wounded game and retrieve errant shots.
    
But opponents argued that the state Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks banned the lighted nocks for good reason. They say many bow hunters oppose the introduction of the technology into the sport out of fear critics will claim that bow hunting is straying from its primitive roots.
    
The bow hunters have a special season separate from rifle hunters.
