Big Sky Resort is calling this year's opening day a success.
The resort opened Thanksgiving Day and officials say numbers were up from last year with 1,500 visitors.
Their daily average is normally around 2,500.
Folks with Big Sky tell us four to six inches of fresh snow allowed them to open quite a few more lifts than they expected.
With a few more inches, representatives say they'll be opening even more terrain.
A week of free skiing for those with a Frequent Sky card begins Monday and those without a card can ski for $20 on Friday.
