WHITEFISH, Mont. -

There are car enthusiasts, but there are others who prefer classic aquatic beauties.

The Big Sky Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society hosted the first Whitefish Woody Weekend on Saturday. Boat owners from all over Montana and the Northwest docked their vessels at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake to enjoy the beautiful weather and camaraderie with fellow owners.

Spectators were greeted with 23 sleek, brown boats, many of which date back to before 1960. Organizers say the Flathead has a special place in the hearts of antique boat owners.

"As a boat owner, we all come to realize that we re more than someone who's out having a good time," said boat owner Tim Salt. "We are a curator of a fine piece of art. And it's our responsibility to pass these on to the next generation so that they can enjoy them as well."
