Former medical marijuana provider and current Montana Cannabis Industry Association president Chris Lindsey plans to plead guilty to a federal drug charge.
Lindsey is a co-founder of Montana Cannabis, one of the largest medical marijuana providers raided across the state in March 2011 in a federal crackdown.
Lindsey struck a deal with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to conspiracy to maintain a drug-involved premises. The charge carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine upon conviction.
Prosecutors agreed to drop several other charges, including conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm during a drug-trafficking offense.
Lindsey will appear in court on Sept. 6, the same date that his former partner, Tom Daubert, is to be sentenced on the same charge.
