Butte-Silver Bow fire officials say an abandoned house in Walkerville that had been scheduled to be burned down earlier this month was destroyed by a suspicious fire over the weekend.
Battalion Chief Rick Ryan says the house did not have working gas or electricity. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was hurt.
The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on Sunday afternoon. Ryan says neighboring homes sustained minor smoke damage.
Assistant Walkerville Fire Chief Evan Bodenberger says the house had been vacant for 10 years and was scheduled to be burned down on July 7, but that burn was canceled due to dry weather.
