Health officials in Flathead County say there are six confirmed cases of whooping cough among students in the Bigfork School District.
Flathead Community Health Services Director Jody White tells the Daily Inter Lake (http://bit.ly/YV2Shc ) that tests are pending on two more students.
Bigfork school officials cancelled a Veteran's Day assembly scheduled for Friday.
Superintendent Cynthia Clary says the Bigfork school district is helping the health department identify people exposed to pertussis so they can begin preventive antibiotic treatment.
White says there have been 24 cases of whooping cough in Flathead County since mid-October, including students in Kalispell and Marion.
