3 juveniles arrested after stolen vehicle pursuit
One of the suspects involved in a stolen vehicle chase told investigators he saw the owner of the vehicle sleeping in a bedroom before he and two others took the keys from inside her house and stole a 98 Jeep Wrangler from the garage, according to the Missoula County Sheriff's Department.
"One of the suspects described going upstairs and seeing this female sleeping in bed," said Missoula County Sheriff's Detective Jason Johnson.
Deputies say three juveniles, ages 17, 17, and 16, and all on probation, first stole a 2005 Honda minivan in the early morning hours of February 5. They reportedly crashed the van a short time later in a ditch on Blue Mountain Road.
The three then reportedly broke into a residence in the area and stole several items, including a credit card and car keys, before stealing a 98 Jeep Wrangler.
7 minutes later, deputies were able to spot the stolen vehicle, and after a pursuit down Reserve Street involving spike strips, they were able to arrest the three suspects.
"These were kids out looking for trouble, and they found it, and we're just pleased that they were apprehended so quickly," said Johnson.
