The Greek Café building in Butte is set to be demolished October 11.

A group of Butte business owners could sue to stop an historic building from meeting the wrecking ball.

Folks in the community boycotted the planned demolition this past weekend.

The building is part of the national historic landmark district.

Mark Reavis, the owner of Butte Urban Safari Tours, said business owners have sought legal advice and will do whatever it takes to save the building.

"Our economy depends on this for our future depends on our history on our uniqueness. People are coming here to see this. We are on the front line we know it, we hear it every day. People are amazed at what we have here for historic resources," Reavis said.

The two story building sits on the corner of East Park and Wyoming Street.

According to the Butte Citizens For Preservation and Revitalization, the building was constructed in 1917.

Over the years it's housed a number of restaurants on the first floor including the Miner's Union bar, the Tia Juana Chili Parlor, and the Tasty Lunch.
