Freedom House, it's a sober house. Sober houses help alcoholics dry out, but when one moved into a Kalispell neighborhood, some people weren't happy.

"What they're furious about is the communication. They were not communicated to because they wanted make sure their voices were heard. I thought in the beginning that that's what was happening. Well, it wasn't. So, I disengaged from it. I still like the guys that are there, but I'm not invovled in it anymore," commented one neighbor John Krager.

Now, not all neighbors are staying out of it. The house sits adjacent to the high school football field and is only blocks away from the elementary school. Opponents say they want it state regulated. They say it's not safe and lowers the property values.

"I have nothing against sober houses. I think they're wonderful, but this is not up to code. It's not up to the building standards of our city," commented one frustrated resident Scott Davis.

The Kalispell City Council wants more time to think it over. The house is legally allowed to be there. Operators of Freedom House have a lawyer, and the city could face a suit.

Hundreds of homes like this exists throughout the nation, and the non-profit Freedom House says it's looking to open more in the area. That's one reason what happens in this neighborhood could have far reaching implications.
