MISSOULA, Mont. -- The Missoula Chamber of Commerce wants business owners to voice opposition to proposed special tax districts.The city council is considering raising property owners' taxes 2.15 percent to pay for park and road maintenance. However, we got a letter telling Missoula businesses the chamber's board of directors voted to actively oppose the plan. The chamber's letter asks businesses for immediate action to oppose it.Last week, the city council extended the protest period to September 7th. If approved, the additional tax could show up on property owners' bills in November.Anyone wishing to protest the special tax districts must put it in writing and send it to the Missoula City Clerk. Email and phone calls are not accepted.
