A Seattle based biomass company announced plans to open its first production plant in Corvallis. Blue Marble Biomaterials converts biomass like wood and agricultural waste into chemicals used in flavorings, fragrance and cosmetics. Blue Marble announced it will hire 25 people.

Company co-founder Kelly Ogilvie says jobs will range from bio-mass handling to trucking, to chemical engineering, and biology, to business development and administrative support.

Ogilvie says quality of life was an important factor as well as existing high tech facilities like Rocky Mountain Laboratories, GSK, and the University of Montana.

The plant is expected to open in November.
