Elite Hot Shot crews are fighting the Dominic Point Fire.

There are only about 105 Hot Shots crews in the country.

Six are based in Montana.

20 firefighters make up a single "hard crew".

They fight high priority fires in the most dangerous and rugged terrain.

One former hot shot crew member knows all too well how dangerous the job can be.

"In terms of the other fire fighters that are out fighting fires, we see a lot of fire activity, on average about 100 to 120 days a year, so we're exposed to a lot more danger for sure," says Steve Karkanen.
