1897: Actor Fredric March, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1932 for "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and in 1947 for "The Best Years of Our Lives," is born Ernest Frederick McIntyre Bickel in Racine, Wis. March, the only actor to win both the Academy Award and the Tony Award twice, also received Oscar nominations for his roles in "The Royal Family of Broadway," "A Star is Born" and "Death of a Salesman."
