BUTTE, Mont. -

Montana's primary is just about six weeks away and candidates are traveling around the state.

Tuesday, Democrat U.S House candidate John Lewis stopped in Butte to tour a couple of businesses and talk about jobs and the workforce.

Lewis met with officials at Synesis 7, which was recently named one of the top 10 Most Promising Aerospace Technology Consulting Providers.

Businesses like Synesis 7 offer great jobs, Lewis said, but they need skilled workers to fill them. He said he'd work to focus on providing resources for workforce development programs.

"They're doing great things here and they're steadily growing and continue to grow," said Lewis. "But they need those skilled workers and we all have to do our part to support that."

Lewis also toured businesses in Missoula and is headed to Bozeman and Billings next.

Republican Steve Daines is running for the U.S. Senate, leaving the House seat open.
