BILLINGS, Mont. -

Billings authorities say a police dog escaped from an officer's home and bit a woman.

Police Lt. Kevin Iffland told the Billings Gazette  Monday the woman was bitten on the chin on Aug. 11.

He says the woman was taken to a hospital for treatment but the extent of her injuries is not clear.

Iffland says the Belgian Malinois escaped from officer Bret Beckers' home along with a family dog.

The woman, who was not identified, found the dogs. She was bitten when she bent to check the dog's tag.

Iffland says the dog, named Kooko, has been quarantined for 10 days during the investigation. Beckers remains on duty.

Iffland says the review will last until at least Wednesday.
