KALISPELL, Mont. -

The identity of the Walmart employee who fell from a moveable staircase at the Kalispell store has been released. Larry Wurtz, 57, of Kalispell passed away due to head injuries from that fall.

While details are still slim, we do know that Wurtz fell from that moveable staircase in the back of the store on August 17. The Kalispell Fire Department responded and transported Wurtz by ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

His family made the tough decision later that week on Thursday, August 21 to take him off of life support.

We spoke with family members who say Wurtz was a caring man who loved to fish and be on the water.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials tell us that they are still investigating the incident.

"It's currently an open and ongoing investigation and we are determining the actual time of death and then are going to compare that to the time frame in which the employer reported the occupational fatality to ensure that's within the eight-hour required limit," said Jeff Funke, Area Director for OSHA.

OSHA officials say the investigation may take a few weeks and they have up to six months to complete it.
