MISSOULA, Mont. -

According to a press release from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho, a DeBorgia man who authorities previously said was a person of interest in an alleged rape died of an apparent suicide.

Kootenai officers say that on April 4, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an apparent suicide off US 95 near Mike Post 421 in Idaho. Officials say 37-year old William R. Baldwin was found deceased.

Officers say that after coordination with the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and the Shoshone County Sherriff’s office, investigators determined that Baldwin had a probation warrant out of Montana, and was currently under a criminal investigation out of Mineral County.

Officers say Baldwin was also under investigation for an alleged vehicle pursuit in Shoshone County on April 2, and the theft of a Forest Service vehicle afterwards.
