HAMILTON, Mont. -

One day and counting before the Ravalli County Fair begins. There was a flurry of activity as fair organizers got last-minute details down.

There were minor traffic snarls, lots of noise, and everyone was going every which way to get things done.

Animals began arriving into newly-cleaned barns. They're all here to compete for purple ribbons.

The carnival is getting set up.

The Fair Parade through downtown Hamilton Wednesday will usher in the four-day event.

"You can expect record exhibits," said Fair Director Deborah Rogala. "We're up almost 1,000 exhibits."

There's a rodeo Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at no extra charge.

Rogala said the popular Dock Dogs is back, and people are looking forward to the Elephant Encounter.

The parade on Main Street starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
