UPDATE: Tuesday's flight was delayed over 90 minutes due to a broken tray table, according to a passenger's report.
Jim Frost of Kalispell told NBC Montana that the tray table attached to the back of his seat had a broken latch, meaning the tray could not be placed in the upright position. When the passenger in the seat behind Frost notified the flight attendants, they told passengers that FAA regulations meant they needed to call a mechanic.
Frost said the mechanic arrived almost 90 minutes later and fixed the problem with a piece of tape. The delay caused many passengers to miss their connecting flights.
Frost stated the flight attendants announced that there was an issue with flights being re-booked upon landing in Denver.
Frontier Airlines welcomed their new Missoula customers Tuesday morning with sweet treats and big deals. Tuesday's flight from Missoula to Denver during the early morning was the third one-way flight since Frontier began service on June 13. They will offer four round-trip flights per week during the summer and scale back to three trips per week during the winter.
Fliers Tuesday morning got free coffee and pastries and a random drawing for airline credit. The airline is holding a 48-hour special online -- $49 flights on the Missoula route. It's all part of Frontier's marketing message, wanting to show customers that they're a budget airline that will offer the cheapest fares.
Other airlines are already responding to the new competitor. Thousands of new seats across all of the airlines will be offered this summer.
Extra seats mean a more crowded airport. Several passengers on the Frontier flight arrived after the final boarding call as they struggled to get through the security checkpoint.
Renovations continue on the terminal to prepare for more passengers. The centerpiece will be the outdoor deck, only the third of its kind in the entire country. Airport officials hope to have that project completed in July.
