A Butte economic group says the ball is now in the city's court to figure out how it will work with the Butte Local Development Corporation.
A couple weeks ago, we reported how Butte-Silver Bow's Economic Development Committee recommended the city seriously reconsider its contract with the BLDC.
Wednesday evening, the two groups met and the BLDC presented what they've done for Butte the past five years, like helping companies with hiring and marketing, and handing out business loans, saving jobs.
During the presentation, BLDC listed at least 20 local companies they have provided loans to, saving a number of jobs in each one.
"Were anxious to see what they come up with and so it's been a partnership that has existed for 30 years, and we feel that there's another 30 under the tank, so we'll work something out," said BLDC Executive Director Jim Smitham. "We're sure we'll work something out."
Smitham said the meetings have been very positive and the next meeting will take place next week.
He expects the city to come back with a proposal, so they can talk about how they'll continue to work together in the future.
