MISSOULA, Mont. -

Charter Communications switched to digital on Tuesday, leaving some customers without service.

The company is switching from outdated analog channels to digital. The company sent out a notice about a month ago to tell customers they need to install new digital set-top boxes for every TV that doesn't have one.

Customers in Missoula lined up outside the Charter store on Wednesday. People told us they were there for the set-top boxes. They also said they received the notice in the mail, but didn't get the box installed.

Charter's Regional Director of Communications Brian Anderson says the switch to digital will allow for faster internet speeds and enhanced high-definition channels. Customers will see benefits when the changeover is complete in November.
