Saturday marked a ‘fresh’ start for Montana State football.Quarterback Denarius McGhee became the first Bobcat frosh to open a season as MSU’s signal caller since 1987, Cody Kirk the freshman running back to do so since 1992, and they led a wave of one dozen freshman that participated in the Bobcats’ season-opening 59-10 home win over Fort Lewis College.Montana State’s 59 points matched the team’s 59 points in 2008 as the most a Bobcat team has ever scored in a season opener.Montana State takes its show on the road next week, facing Pac 10 foe Washington State in Pullman’s Martin Stadium. Fort Lewis is does not play next weekend.

NBC Montana confirmed 34-year-old Jeremy Mata was arrested in Mt. Vernon, Wash., Tuesday.
Skagit County jail officials said Mata was arrested and being held for being a fugitive of justice in Montana and is wanted for homicide.
