BOZEMAN, Mont. -- It was back to school for thousands of students around our area today. For those attending Bozeman High though, the day marked an even more special occasion.
"First day jitters and students are trying to find their way around in a very large school," said Derek Strahn, American Studies teacher.
From a new library, courtyard, a second cafeteria, gym and main office, the new facilities make up and additional 60,000 square feet of much needed space.
One of the highlights of the renovation is a cafeteria that boasts the latest in modern amenities, including flat screen TVs. The TVs show the lunch menu of the day along with a new ticker and Weather Channel updates.
Although the new facility relieves a lot of congestion, and the upgrade has received positive feedback, staff is still hard at work unpacking boxes and settling in.
"It's a ton of work and the packing and unpacking but once you get settled, but once you get settled, it's just a real joy," said Jim Thompson, American Studies teacher.
With the excitement of a first day of school mixed with a new building, students and teachers are still adapting but excited to be part of a new chapter of Bozeman High.
