GREAT FALLS, Mont. -

A Great Falls man suspected of killing a Cascade County sheriff's deputy during a high-speed chase has been charged with deliberate homicide.

County Attorney John Parker says that 40-year-old Adam Sanchez Jr. was charged Wednesday in the Aug. 14 death of Deputy Joe Dunn. He was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the homicide charge in District Court in Fort Benton on Thursday.

Authorities say Sanchez hit and killed Dunn during a car chase. At the time, Sanchez was awaiting sentencing in a robbery case. Dunn was 33 and had been with the sheriff's department for more than two years.

Parker says more information about the circumstances leading to Dunn's death will be available after charging documents are filed.

Sanchez is jailed in Fort Benton with his bail set at $2 million.
