MISSOULA, Mont. -

Hundreds of pets and their owners crowded the Adams Center at the University of Montana on Saturday for the ninth annual Pet Fest.

It's a family oriented event to benefit eight animal shelters in the region. Organizers tell NBC Montana that Pet Fest also promotes responsible pet ownership with education through entertainment.

"We like to dress them up and he likes to do the races and we just like to have fun with our dogs," said Missoula visitor Kya Selanders.

"I really like it, I think it's a great cause and the donations are really nice to see. We did bring in some food too and all these little attractions are nice," said Missoula resident Courtney Cheramie.

The Pet Fest will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year on the same day August 16.

KECI is a proud sponsor of the event.
