HAMILTON, Mont. -

The Lone Rock School District near Stevensville has failed to pass a $100,000 levy request that would have helped pay day-to-day operations not funded by the state.

Administration said the school has been operating at 80 percent capacity.

A yes vote would have hiked that to 85 percent.

It would have helped pay to maintain small class sizes, a ski program and improved security and campus safety.

"Anything funded out of the general fund," said Lone Rock Superintendent Roger Samples, "athletics, field trips, music programs, library, some administration costs come out of that as well."
