A roadblock set up for local traffic only at the entrance to Colorado Gulch was taken down about noon Tuesday. Crews mopped up the fire that burned two and a half acres on private land.
A number of houses are in the area. But law enforcement told us response was quick and resources plentiful to get the fire out.
"It was dry and just like a tinderbox," said Missoula County Sheriff Carl Ibsen. "We could have had major problems if they hadn't gotten on it as quick as they did."
The Colorado Gulch Fire in Grant Creek brought city and rural firefighters, the DNRC, the U.S. Forest Service and even a Helena Hot Shot crew.
