MISSOULA, Mont. -

Missoula police took a body out of the Clark Fork River Wednesday evening. 

A call to emergency dispatchers came in at about 6 p.m.  People at the California Street footbridge between Russell and Orange Street spotted a body in the water. 

A crowd gathered as officers responded. 

Those at the scene confirmed to NBC Montana that they did recover one body.   Officers will not give any information about the body or the investigation into the nature of how it ended up in the river.
