United Way of Missoula County is asking the community to increase donations by 20 percent over last year. The organization that funds health and human service agencies kicked off its fall campaign.

It's asked for $1.2 million. United Way reports needs in the community can't be measured in percentages. It attributes the increased fundraising goal to increased needs in the community.

Thousands of people in Missoula rely on the support that United Way programs provide.
