First Alert 48 Hour Forecast

A few thunderstorms will rumble into the night around West-Central and Southwest Montana. Look for lightning and heavy rain. There is a very slight chance of more hail this evening.

A strong storm system will swing directly overhead over the next two days. Expect rain showers and cloud cover to increase over the next 48 hours. A few embedded thunderstorms in the rain are possible on Friday. Highs will top out in the 60s across the region.

Temperatures around Yellowstone and Glacier above 7000 feet will cool enough to produce light snow. It is unlikely snow will reach roadways other than Logan Pass in Glacier National Park. Lows Saturday morning will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s in populated areas. Rainfall totals by the end of Saturday could be well over half of an inch in isolated locations.

Another weak system follows behind this storm to start next week, so rain chances and cool temperatures continue until midweek. We return to sunshine and normal conditions for this time of year by Wednesday.
