The regular season is nearly a month old but this week gave some new life for high school basketball players.  The Montana vs Wyoming all-star rosters were announced Thursday, the annual games take place in June.

Seniors Maddie Keast and Olivia Roberts were both named to the Montana team after leading Missoula Sentinel to their third straight class 'AA' title this spring.  Both players were named to the class 'AA' all-state team.

For Keast, the all-star contests will be one last high school game she gets to play in after missing the state title game due to an ankle injury.

"You know it didn't end exactly how I wanted it to end," said Keast about the end of her high school season.  "Of course a state championship, I couldn't be any more excited or happy about that."

A year from now these two will be on different sides of the coin.  Roberts will play basketball at Wyoming and Keast will compete for the Lady Griz at the University of Montana.  But for the upcoming all-star series in June these two will play together to represent the Treasure State against Wyoming.

"Just to know that I have one more last game especially with Liv because we didn't get that one last game together," explained Keast.  "To even be considered amongst those people is such an honor and such a blessing.  To be able to know that you get to go play in a game with all these elite players around the state; it's just going to be such an awesome experience I can't wait."

Three locals named to the boys roster

A trio of local athletes will highlights the boys team.  From the class 'AA' Glacier Wolfpack, Evan Epperly was selected.  The senior point guard was an all-state player for the second year in a row and led the Glacier boys to a state tournament semifinals appearance.  Epperly was one of the top-10 scorers in the state this season for class 'AA' basketball.

Out of the class 'A' southwest conference, Jared Schultz was selected. Also a senior point guard, Schultz led his Yellowjackets back to the state tournament this season after winning the state championship his junior year.  Schultz also averaged over 18 points per game on the year.

From the class 'B' ranks, Christian Evans was honored with a selection.  Evans led his Bigfork Vikings to their first ever state basketball title last month in Bozeman. The center was Bigfork's leading scorer this season and helped the Vikings cap off a perfect season of 26-0.
