Day one of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field championships in Eugene, Oregon saw one Bobcat's season come to an end with another ending his day 10th in the decathlon.
Bobcat senior Jeff Mohl competed in five decathlon events on Wednesday, scoring 3,994 points.
Mohl's first event of the day was the 100 meter dash. The Bobcat senior would finish in 6th place, with a time of 10.86 seconds. Mohl would go on to finish 12th in the long jump and 21st in the shot put.
Mohl would then go on to compete in the high jump, clearing 6'7 and 1/2 inches. He would finish the event in 8th place, but that jump was just 1/2 an inch short of Mohl's personal best in the event.
There are still five events remaining in the decathlon, which will conclude on Thursday.
Bobcat junior Grant Grosvenor only had one event on Wednesday, but he would see his season come to an end when it was over.
Grosvenor competed in the 800 meter semi-final run, finishing 5th overall in the first heat of the event with a time of 1 minute, 50.62 seconds. That would not be enough for Grosvenor to qualify for the 800 meter finals.
Montana State's Carley McCutchen and Griz heptathlete Lindsey Hall will begin their quest for a title in the Women's heptathlon on Thursday, which begins at 2:00 p.m.
