Free-agent guard Shannon Brown signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Miami Heat on Wednesday.

The deal was announced by Priority Sports, which represents Brown.

Brown was with the New York Knicks at the end of last season after signing with the team in late February and then staying on through the summer to help new coach Derek Fisher put in the triange offense.

The 28-year-old Brown has averaged 7.7 points per game during his career and adds a veteran presence in the backcourt to help the Heat with depth.
