KALISPELL, Mont. -

Fire crews responded to the fire on N. Pines Rd, south of Whitefish, Monday night after the call came in at 7:14.

Crews from West Valley, Smith Valley, South Kalispell, Kalispell and Whitefish all responded.

When crews arrived on scene, the fire was already fully involved in the front of the house, according to West Valley Fire Chief Russ Sappington

Firefighters were able to save a newer model Jeep Cherokee that was in the garage, along with some other personal effects from the house, but the structure was a total loss.

West Valley Fire was still at the scene Tuesday afternoon continuing to dump water on the charred building. Sappington says that the house collapsed into the basement, meaning cooling down the structure will take a little longer with so much heat still trapped.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation with damages estimated near $300,000.
