Residents in a Grant Creek neighborhood are still shaken up after one of their own neighbors allegedly shot and killed a 17-year-old German exchange student.
Markus Kaarma, 29, told investigators he feared for his life when Diren Dede entered his garage early Sunday morning. Kaarma fired four shots, killing Dede.
While Kaarma is back home on Deer Canyon Court, he's doesn’t have any firearms.
Acting Justice of the Peace Suzanne Geer required that all of his weapons be turned in before he was released from jail.
Missoula police say five guns were dropped off Monday to be stored at the police station. Kaarma was released from jail around 5 p.m. that same day, after posting $30,000 bond.
In addition to handing over his guns, Kaarma must remain in Missoula County, and is prohibited from using drugs or alcohol.
