BOZEMAN, Mont. -

With more than two months to go before the general election, the only confirmed U.S. House and Senate candidate debates will be on Oct. 4 in Bozeman.

Montana Television Network News Director John Stepanek said Monday he expects the major party candidates to participate. The debates will be broadcast statewide.

The debates were on hold after Democratic Sen. John Walsh withdrew his candidacy. Officials say his replacement, Amanda Curtis, will participate. Her opponent, GOP Rep. Steve Daines, has not confirmed.

In the U.S. House race, Republican candidate Ryan Zinke declined to participate in debates in Billings and Great Falls due to scheduling conflicts.

Billings Gazette Editor Darrell Ehrlick says Zinke's Democratic opponent, John Lewis, will receive a full hour of air time on Sept. 29.
